Basic Varifocal. This is a great entry level varifocal lens, it will give good clear vision at distance, intermediate and near, natural smooth graduation between the three zones and with comfortable soft focus distortions at the edges.
Premium Varifocal. This is a very high quality varifocal lens with a field of view much wider than the basic design, it has an even more natural graduation between the distance, intermediate and near zones, while the distortions at the edges are reduced even further. These offer great visual comfort and performance and are easily adapted to. They can be used in the shallower frames also.
Elite Varifocal. These are currently the best available style of varifocal, from the new crop of ‘free form’ designs where the technology used to make the lens is more superior and as such allows nearly all the distortions to be pushed to the very edge of the lens. The field of view now 3 times wider than the basic design and the graduation from distance to near very natural. They are great for all purposes and are easily adapted to. They can be used with all frame styles and designs.
Bifocal D28. This is the most commonly used bifocal, the reading portion is ‘D’ shape with the flat edge running across the lens. They give a very wide field of view in the distance with no distortions. The near field of view is narrower and good for most near tasks. Bifocals are not suited for computer work.
All our Varifocal and Bifocal lenses block all harmful UV and are supplied by leading UK lens manufacturers, they are made to the highest specification and all conform to British Standard BS2738-3 2004. All our lenses are made from plastic materials.
The coatings available on the lenses are designed to enhance the cosmetics, improve optical performance and increase their durability for you. Coatings include:
Anti-scratch (HC) scratch resistant/hard coated lenses. This coating protects the lenses from everyday wear and tear, scratching from cleaning etc, which can lead to decreased vision, increased glare and a reduced appearance. These coatings increase durability, protect the lenses giving them extended life.
Anti-reflection (MAR) coatings help to stop reflected light from the lens surface, if this light is reflected then it is not passing through the lens. These front and back surface reflections can reduce the amount of light reaching the eyes, thereby reducing your quality of vision especially in low lighting levels and high glare situations, such as driving and computing. Cosmetic appearance is improved as the lenses are almost invisible in the frames so it is your eyes you see not the reflections.
Ultra Clean (UC) is a new coating making the surface of the lens anti-static and hydrophobic this makes the lens surface completely smooth, so particles are not attracted to the lens, and any that do slide off. This makes cleaning less necessary, up to 90% less. This coating can be ordered with most varifocals at an extra cost, please ask for details.
Ultra Violet (UV) Block, protective coating will block all damaging Ultra Violet radiation up to 400nm. This will protect your eyes from harmful and damaging radiation especially from the sun. All lenses with anti-scratch have full UV blocking.
There are many lens coating combinations available. The most complete, currently available for varifocals lenses is the Anti-scratch with Anti-glare (MAR/HC), this provides full UV blocking, anti-scratch and anti-reflective properties.
There are many different combinations of lenses and coatings available that are not shown on the price list, if there is something that you require specifically, then ring us for a quotation.
